Middle8

What it does

• Notices when you arrive home
• If you're playing music in Apple Music, offers a one-tap handoff to a Sonos
• Brings the entire queue along, picking up at your current playhead position
• Pauses the iPhone — single source of audio, no parallel playback

How it works

A geofence around your home wakes Middle8 when you arrive. The app confirms you're actually on home Wi-Fi (not just driving past) and that something's playing in Apple Music. If both check out, you get a notification:

Tap it. Music transitions to the speaker. iPhone goes silent. Middle 8 — the bridge section between two parts of a song — but for two devices.

What it doesn't do

• No data leaves your iPhone
• No accounts, no servers, no telemetry
• No automatic background handoff — the notification is always the handshake

Privacy

Middle8 doesn't collect, transmit, or share any user data. All operations happen on your iPhone or your local Wi-Fi network. There are no analytics, no tracking, no remote servers — Middle8 is a small piece of software that lives entirely on your devices.

Permissions Middle8 asks for, and why:

• Apple Music — to read what's currently playing
• Local Network — to discover Sonos speakers via Bonjour
• Location (Always) — to detect arrival via a geofence around your home
• Wi-Fi Info — to confirm you're on your home network before prompting
• Notifications — to ask whether you want to hand off
